Beverley Ulrich
Original Oil & Acrylic paintings

WildsideMediumOil on Canvas24" x 18"

Beverley's path through life is what she considers her greatest teacher.  It has enabled her to infuse her work with a myriad of images, colors and symbols that many other artists may not have been lucky enough to have encountered.  From an early life in Sydney she carried with her the uniquely Australian characteristics of being a free-thinking world traveler.

Having lived in and traveled all over Spain, Portugal, Greece and various parts of the United States, as far apart as Hawaii, Virginia, and Florida, she quickly absorbed every cultural experience encountered.  Oils are her favorite medium, using a variety of styles and textures in bringing forth her subjects.

Art,  depends upon the artist's passion for the subject and ability to effectively express that feeling in raw emotion caught on canvas.

Her core belief is that, "the life of a painting is never finished; it just moves on to more interesting places".

Additional Artist for the Month

Jo Ann Bledsoe

24x30_Tango_Nackley.jpg

Always in the mist of new avenues of creative expression, artist Jo Ann Bledsoe has long been on the edge of the new and different. She currently works with acrylics on canvas and wood, her brushes laying down dots and dashes of bold color with a mosaic-like quality. Jo Ann’s work is influenced by the distinctive gold encrusted decorations of Klimt, the unconventional representation of the body by Picasso, and the use of color by Matisse. It is said that she brings a 21st century twist to the past.

Born and educated in Virginia, she studied Fine Arts and Art History at the Virginia Commonwealth University where she found it rewarding to tutor fellow students in religious art history. She continued her art education at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts where she studied life drawing and at the Hand Workshop where she studied jewelry design. During her career, she trained staff members in photographic re-touching and jewelry making. She is accomplished in many areas including photography, glass, textiles, and jewelry. Jo Ann continues to design and produce original hand-crafted pieces of elegant jewelry in sterling silver, semi-precious stone, horn, wood, and Czech glass.

Jo Ann has hunted for artistic inspiration in the museums of New York City and Paris. She has been further influenced by her travels through Europe, the Caribbean, and Costa Rica. She presently resides in St. Augustine, FL with her cat, Sanctus. If asked about her work, Jo Ann would say, “I’m never quite finished; it’s always evolving. My art is still in search of something, perhaps the perfect red.” Both the experienced and casual viewer will be enticed and intrigued by Jo Ann Bledsoe’s journey in expressive art.
